Thermobexta’s Sesame Slaw

sesame-slaw

This is an awesome version of coleslaw, just a bit different to the rest!  Naturally sweetened with pear, though, you won’t pick it’s in there.

40g sesame seeds (a mix of black and white seeds is beautiful!)
40g extra virgin olive oil
30g apple cider vinegar
30g tahini
130g pear, roughly chopped (or apple)
1/4 tsp salt
300g cabbage, roughly chopped
180g carrots, roughly chopped
100g snow peas, trimmed, halved

1. Place sesame seeds in a small frying pan and toast for a few minutes until they start to change colour. Remove from heat, set aside.

2. To make dressing, place oil, vinegar, tahini, 30g of the pear and salt in mixer bowl. Blitz for 7 seconds/speed 7/MC on.  Some of the pear may still be chunky, that’s ok.

3. Add cabbage, carrots, snow peas, remaining pear and the toasted sesame seeds to mixer bowl. Process for 15 seconds/speed 4/MC on, or until no large chunks remain.

This was so easy to make and is so tasty! I used grapeseed oil and apple as no olive oil or pears in the house. I love that there’s no onion, spring onion, or garlic. This is perfect – thank you!

I made this slaw with apple and a combination of different cabbages to accompany sliders yesterday and it was a huge hit with my guests.

I love turning people’s heads with Thermobexta recipes. The most common exclamations are “this tastes so fresh!” And “so delicious and so healthy!” This recipe was no exception.

If you’ve not made this healthy, tasty spin on a Coleslaw before, give it a try!

I made this salad to go with our BBQ instead of normal boring old coleslaw I always make and it was so yummy! I didn’t have an tahini so I used natural greek yoghur instead. Love the nuttiness of the sesame seeds and the sweetness of the pear & snow peas! Will be a regular on our table. Thanks Bec!

Yum this is fabulous, I used half green half purple cabbage for different colours. Love the dressing for a change from egg mayo!

Sooo good! Perfect balance of the dressing ingredients. I used capsicum instead of carrot, and apple instead of pear. Beautiful nutty flavor from the sesame seeds.

Thanks for a delicious salad…will be making a regular appearance at our dinner table!
